To Defend against the New Coronavirus, What Fabric is the Mask Made of?

Non woven fabric (English Name: non woven fabric or non-woven cloth), also known as nonwoven, is composed of directional or random fibres, forming a fibre mesh structure, and then reinforced by mechanical, thermal adhesive or chemical methods. The main fibres used in the production of non-woven fabrics are PP and PET. Besides, there are nylon (PA), viscose fibre, acrylic fibre, ethylene fibre (HDPE), chlorine fibre (PVC).

The non-woven fabric is light in weight, with polypropylene resin as the main production raw material, the proportion is only 0.9, only three-fifths of cotton, with fluffy and good feel.

Non woven fabric is soft. It is composed of fine fibers (2-3D) and formed by light spot hot-melt bonding. The finished product is soft and comfortable.

Water repellent, breathable, polypropylene slices do not absorb water, the water content is zero, and the finished product has good water repellency. It is composed of 100% fibre with porosity, good air permeability, easy to keep the cloth dry and easy to wash.

It is non-toxic and non-irritating. The product uses FDA food grade raw materials and does not contain other chemical components. Therefore, it has stable performance, non-toxic, no peculiar smell and no skin irritation.

It is antibacterial and chemical resistant. Polypropylene is a kind of chemical blunt substance, not moth eaten, and can isolate bacteria and insects in the liquid; antibacterial, alkali corrosion, finished products do not affect the strength due to corrosion.

It has good physical properties. It is made of polypropylene spinning directly laid into a net and hot bonded. The strength of the product is better than that of the general staple fibre product. The strength of the product has no directionality and the vertical and horizontal strength are similar.

And it is very environmentally friendly. In terms of environmental protection, most of the raw materials used for non-woven fabrics are polypropylene, while the raw materials for plastic bags are polyethene. Although the names of the two substances are similar, their chemical structures are quite different. The chemical molecular structure of polyethene is very stable and difficult to degrade, so it takes 300 years for plastic bags to decompose;

However, the chemical structure of polypropylene is not solid, and the molecular chain can be easily broken, so it can be effectively degraded, and enter the next environmental cycle in the non-toxic form. A non-woven shopping bag can be completely broken down in 90 days. Moreover, the non-woven shopping bag can be reused for more than 10 times, and the environmental pollution degree of a discarded shopping bag is only 10% of that of a plastic bag.

Non-woven products are internationally recognized as environmental protection products to protect the earth's ecology. It is suitable for agricultural film, shoemaking, leather making, mattress, quilt, decoration, chemical industry, printing, automobile, building materials, furniture and other industries. It is widely used and economical.

The non-woven fabric is made of chemical fibre and plant fibre on wet or dry papermaking machine with water or air as a suspension medium. Although it is cloth, it is not woven, so it is called non-woven. Non woven fabric is a new generation of environmental protection material, which has the advantages of good strength, air permeability and water resistance, environmental protection, flexibility, non-toxic and tasteless, and low price. If the material is placed outdoors and decomposes naturally, its longest life is only 90 days. It decomposes indoors within 8 years. When it is burned, it is non-toxic, harmless and thus does not pollute the environment. Therefore, the characteristics of environmental protection come from it.
